Thanksgiving is over. Turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie are distant memories. You're bank account has already suffered tremendously and is now shivering with the thought of all the Christmas shopping that’s yet to come.
Your “Holiday Spirit” has sunk below zero (as well as the outside temperature) and all you want for Christmas is your couch, a blanket and a TV dinner.
Oh come on! Not happening! Man up. All you need is a quick injection of merry's and jolly's. Grab a mug of hot coco (or extra spiced eggnog) and check out a couple of the best Christmas movies streaming on Netflix as we speak.
Love Actually (2003)
Stars: Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley, Rowan Atkinson, Bill Nighy
"Love Actually" might just be the greatest holiday feel good film ever. Multiple story lines of love, played by a whole bunch of famous and (mostly) attractive people. It’s witty, blissful, sometimes emotional, but mostly jolly. This movie is so charming that you’ll keep on watching, even when it’s on replay for the 3rd time that week. Music’s good too!
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Stars: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, William Hickey
"The Nightmare Before Christmas" is an amazing stop-motion animation and of course dripping with Tim Burton’s wonderfully grimy style. Watching this movie has become a tradition on its own! Jack Skellington stumbling upon a secret portal to Christmas Town, wondering “What’s this?!” and then kidnapping Santa to try and copy the holiday spirit?! Yes please! Every.single.year.again.
Miracle on 34th Street (1955)
Stars: Thomas Mitchell, Sandy Descher, Teresa Wright, Hans Conried, Don Beddoe
This is the only version of the 1947 classic streaming on Netflix, and it’ll do just fine. Can’t go wrong with this adorable tale! A girl is told there is no Santa by her no-nonsense mom, who happens to run the Thanksgiving Day Parade at a famous department store. Enter: The real Santa Claus. Pure holiday magic!
Jingle All the Way (1996)
Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, Phil Hartman, Rita Wilson
No other movie screams Christmas like Arnie in "Jingle All the Way". It’s the perfect recipe for a ‘90s holiday movie. The American Shopping Mall experience will give you instant anxiety and might make you decide to only shop online this year. A father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure (think Power Ranger knock-off) for Christmas, however, every store is sold out and he must travel all over town and compete with a bunch of other dorks in order to find one. And boy, does this man go all the way.
Don't panick! Even if you're spending the holidays abroad, you will still be able to login into your US Netflix account with ChillGlobal!
